Facilities Technician
Job Description
A local public agency is seeking a Facilities Technician to join their team. In this role, you will perform a variety of semiskilled tasks to maintain and repair housing, office facilities, and grounds. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to contribute to a positive living environment for residents.
As a Facilities Technician, you will be instrumental in keeping their properties in top condition. This is not just a maintenance job; it's about making a difference by ensuring facilities are safe and welcoming. You'll work under the general direction of a Maintenance Supervisor, completing routine work orders and assisting with a wide range of tasks, including:
- Grounds Maintenance: Mowing, trimming shrubs, removing dead trees and limbs, raking leaves, and picking up trash to keep our grounds neat and tidy.
- Unit Preparation: Cleaning vacant units to get them ready for new occupants, which includes mopping, sweeping, waxing floors, and cleaning kitchens and bathrooms.
- Repairs & Maintenance: Performing basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC repairs. You'll also assist with painting and general upkeep of facilities.
- General Duties: Operating various tools and machinery, maintaining an inventory of supplies, and assisting with snow and ice removal during winter.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have a solid foundation in general building and ground maintenance.
Education & Experience:
- A high school diploma is required.
- We're looking for someone with moderate experience in general building and grounds maintenance.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will also be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge: You should be familiar with general maintenance and repair tasks, including basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry procedures. A good understanding of the safe use of hand and power tools is a must.
- Skills: You are skilled in using the equipment required for the job and have basic computer skills.
- Abilities: You are able to diagnose and repair problems, follow oral and written instructions, and work well with others. A respectful and collaborative attitude is essential.
