Custodian Lead
Job Description
Are you a highly organized and experienced custodian ready to step into a leadership role? Join our team as a Working Custodian! This is a hands-on position responsible for ensuring our company facilities maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety, while also guiding and supporting our housekeeping personnel.
Core Responsibilities
This role serves as a working leader, balancing individual cleaning duties with team oversight and support.
- Hands-On Cleaning: Perform routine tasks including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and polishing to meet company cleanliness standards.
- Inspections & Quality Control: Inspect rooms and common areas to ensure compliance with established hygiene and safety protocols.
- Supply Management: Replenish toiletries, sanitizer dispensers, hand towel dispensers, and manage the proper removal and disposal of trash.
- Equipment Maintenance: Protect and maintain cleaning equipment, ensuring all tools are in good working condition.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee daily housekeeping activities, delegate tasks to ensure coverage and efficiency, and coordinate special cleaning projects.
- Team Leadership & Training: Train new team members on operations and cleaning protocols, serve as a resource during assigned shifts, and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Process Improvement & Reporting: Identify and recommend opportunities to improve cleaning processes, report equipment damage and supply inventory needs, and provide input on training needs and employee performance.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience:
- At least two years of experience in a housekeeping or facilities maintenance role within a corporate or professional environment.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity, with proven ability to lead teams.
- Skills:
- Proven experience in inventory management, with the ability to effectively monitor cleaning supply levels and initiate timely reordering.
- Proficient in operating and maintaining floor care equipment and other cleaning tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to meet the following physical demands:
- Ability to lift and pull in excess of 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Majority of work is performed while standing and walking.
- Requires the ability to bend, squat, reach, push, pull, climb, stoop, twist, and have full range of motion in upper and lower extremities.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Willingness to tolerate some exposure to hazardous chemicals, dust, fumes, and gases common in cleaning environments.
Additional Information
- This is a contract position lasting one year with the potential to transition to the company for the right candidate.
- Hours are Monday – Friday from 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
- $19.95/hour
- Does require complete background screening and pre-employment drug screening.
