Immediate need and a great opportunity to work with an outreach program!

A leading behavioral health agency in eastern North Carolina has multiple needs for qualified individuals to work within the community to share information on valuable resources available. The Community Outreach Specialists will work directly with their team leads to promote this program within their designated counties. Person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to interact with the public and diverse populations and have the ability to follow operational protocol.

The teams will be providing information and resources related to suicide prevention, PTSD, depression, anxiety and other mental health issues resulting from the COVID pandemic in underserved communities. The teams will participate in regular community events and provide program related information in various settings such as fairs,  festivals, local churches, DSS, community health departments, door to door, etc.

This is a part-time long-term contract position.    

There will be multiple candidates identified to work in each of counties listed, you must reside in the identified service area and travel throughout specific regions will be necessary.   Travel reimbursement is available.

More immediate need in the southeastern North Carolina counties:

Counties included in the catchment area:  Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Halifax, Hertford, Martin, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Beaufort, Craven, Hyde, Nash, Pamlico, Pitt, Tyrell, Washington, Bladen, Brunswick, Carteret, Columbus, Jones, New Hanover, Onslow and Pender. 

Schedule will likely vary and will mostly revolve around community events - flexibility is a must!

11:00am-7:00pm Monday-Friday, and or Saturday 8:00am-4:00pm and Sunday 2:00pm-7:00pm. 

Job Requirements

  • An Associates degree in the behavioral health/public health/psychology field is preferred
  • At least 1 year of previous experience working with the MH/SU/IDD population is preferred.
  • A valid NC driver’s license and reliable transportation will be necessary. (clean driving record) - travel reimbursement is available.
  • A pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check will be part of the hiring process.
