Band Director | Part-Time
Job Description
A private school is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Part-Time Band Director to lead its upper elementary band program during the 2026-2027 school year.
This position offers the opportunity to inspire young musicians, foster confidence and teamwork, and help students develop a lifelong appreciation for music.
Responsibilities
- Teach instrumental music to upper elementary students
- Instruct students in instrument care, music theory, reading music, and ensemble performance
- Lead rehearsals and prepare students for performances and school events
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student development
- Encourage creativity, teamwork, discipline, and musical growth
Schedule
- Part-time, school-year position
- One to two classes per week during school hours
- Flexible schedule based on school programming needs

Job Requirements
- Experience teaching music or directing youth band ensembles
- Strong knowledge of instrumental music, music theory, and performance techniques
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to motivate and engage elementary-age students
- Experience in a Montessori or independent school setting is a plus
