Fabrication Technician Assistant
Job Description
We are seeking a Fabrication Technician Assistant to join a production and maintenance team. The ideal candidate is a proactive and detail-oriented individual who will be responsible for a variety of hands-on tasks supporting unit fabrication, equipment maintenance, and facility upkeep. This role requires an understanding of basic tool usage and a willingness to learn various skilled trades.
The individual in this position will be responsible for building and maintaining inventory, as well as performing basic carpentry, plumbing, and metalwork tasks. The Fabrication Technician Assistant will assist with electrical and fabrication processes, equipment repair, unit testing and preparation, and other work assignments as needed.
- Production & Fabrication Support: Execute assigned tasks during each phase of the unit production process, including framing, insulation, installing walls/hoods, cutting in doors and windows, cutting metal for welders, flooring/doors/window installation, bending/installing trim, painting, and cleaning.
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on the company's fleet trailers and equipment.
- System Installation & Testing: Assist with plumbing, gas lines, electrical layouts, equipment preparation, installation, and testing. Become familiar with interior testing procedures for all equipment, plumbing, and electrical components.
- Logistics & Organization: Assist with loading/unloading deliveries, equipment, and general organization. Support organization efforts by building and maintaining inventory.
- Safety & Compliance: Understand and follow company policies, procedures, and recognized safety practices, including reviewing MSDS materials and the proper use of PPE. Report any safety hazards to management.
- Team Support: Support Advanced Techs/Senior Techs with daily tasks and jobs. Assist with inspecting trailers' overall condition, tires, brakes, lights, bearings, roof, etc.
- Field Support: Assist with on-site job setups and tear-downs, and with the rental units' assembly/disassembly process as needed. Occasional travel may be required.
- Facility Upkeep: Maintain a clean, safe workspace and environment and assist with regular maintenance and upkeep of the facility. Assist as a heavy equipment and trailer spotter when the equipment and trailers are being moved around the building.
- Certification: Complete training or become certified in scissor lift and forklift operation after 60 days of employment.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Understanding of common power tools and hand tools.
- Foundational Skills: Must be able to read a measuring tape.
- Work Ethic: Critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions and execute them accurately.
- A plus: Any experience with welding, electrical, and plumbing is beneficial.
The work environment is a warehouse/outdoor setting, with fluctuating temperatures and exposure to elements. The environment can be loud, wet, cold, hot, dusty, greasy, dirty, and slippery/slick.
The role requires the ability to perform the following essential physical demands:
- Stepping in and out of trailers, and up and down ladders.
- Bending, kneeling, crouching, and crawling to clean or work in tight spaces.
- Pushing, pulling, and carrying over 40 lbs.
- Scrubbing/scraping.
- Frequent use of hand and power tools.
- Use of a temperature-regulated power washer and various chemicals.

Additional Information
The typical schedule is 7:30am – 4:00pm Monday through Friday with occasional overtime and weekends as needed.
Requires complete background check and pre-employment drug screening.
Potential to transition to company.
